Winter Wonderland Wedding Inspiration

One of the things I love about partying in a marquee is the way I can create individual and unique themes to suit every season and the personal style of each of my clients.

And, winter is a wonderful time to get creative with such a wide variety of party themes that can be inspired by the colours of nature.

I was asked by a client to create such a theme for a corporate christmas party marquee event at the stunning Yorkshire venue of Hazlewood Castle .

I hope the following photos from that event will inspire you to create your very own Winter Wonderland Theme for your wedding or party.

Winter Wonderland Wedding Theme

To keep your overall winter party theme simple but sophisticated I suggest a colour scheme of winter white with a dusting of ice blue and silver.

Bring your Winter Wonderland Party Theme together by giving some thought to all the small details including invitations, place cards, table plans, menus, and favours.

Use a snowflake background for these items and have your dining table names related to the theme, for example,  ‘North Pole’.

A wonderful way to add style to a Winter Wonderland Party Theme is with striking table settings and centrepieces.

I suggest you use circular tables to seat ten. Surround each table with chairs dressed in crisp white covers tied with a double sash of navy blue and sparkling white organza.  Cover each table in simple white linen and place a large circular mirror in the centre.

Napkins should be crisp and white, tie each one with ice blue ribbon and attach a small pine cone.

Focus on your table centrepieces for maximum effect. Fill the bottom of an extra tall cylinder vase with crystal glass, top with small white twigs, then add a long, white, glittered twisted hazel twig, from which you can hang several small silver and blue Christmas baubles.

To complete the look top each vase with a large pom-pom of white chrysanthemum flower heads. Sprinkle silver glitter over the flowers and embellish with some additional white sparkling twigs.

Place three votive candles and glittered pine cones around the centrepiece on the large circular mirror.

Finish the table by dusting with fake snow and small pine cones.  For an added touch sprinkle each pine cone with Christmas scented oils.

To add drama hang large paper snowballs in between the crystal chandeliers from the marquee roof.

Create additional decorative features by using birdcages tied with silver and blue ribbon and filled with blue and silver Christmas baubles. If you are unable to find birdcages take the basic idea but use large glass vases.

Add Christmas trees covered in fake snow or silver glitter around the marquee reception, and at the entrance.

If your budget will stretch to it, for an additional surprise, add an ice sculpture or even an ice bar.

Winter Wonderland Wedding Theme

As with any wedding or party, planning the detail is the key to ensure a successful winter wonderland theme marquee.

This is my interpretation, if any readers have had their very own winter wonderland wedding or party, or are thinking of creating a unique winter party theme, I would love to hear your ideas.
