We were asked to style a marquee for a winter wedding blessing with a black and white colour theme at the picturesque Yorkshire wedding venue Hazelwood Castle, near Leeds.

The big advantage of setting a wedding blessing in a marquee is it is essentially a blank canvas to be really creative and adventurous with colour!

We decided not to just look at black and white as the colour itself, but to base a theme around these two colours.

Here are some ideas;

  • Classic black and white era
  • Dice
  • Black tux and little black dress
  • Night sky : star and moon
  • Audrey Hepburn
  • Chanel
  • Silent Movie

Our black and white wedding blessing marquee interior design was inspired by 1920’s gangster and molls but with a classy and sophisticated edge.

Remember the 1920’s was a time of the prohibition and the roaring 1920’s with famous gangsters and their molls. This was the era for illicit gambling, drinking, feather boas, cigarette holders, black and white silent movies and of course the Charleston.

Our creative juices were flowing and our mood board soon filled up; using a mood board is the best way to get ideas together.

Attention to detail is the key for finishing an event, getting small details together brings the overall look of the event together.

Event design idea -  Gangster and Molls: Have a doorman waiting at the end of a red carpet entrance, to ask each guest for a secret code to enter. On entry guests should be served with cocktails made from gin or vodka.

What would you do with a black and white theme?

We would love to hear from you and be inspired by your ideas.
